ORIGIN
The Faience manufacture of Gien was founded in 1821 by English Thomas HALL who wanted to introduce in France the manufacture of English fine earthenware. The production initially started with utility crockery then it was directed towards the manufacture of service and decorative part, sets of table linen to the weapons of the big families. The Faience manufacture works unceasingly with the improvement of quality and the artistic development. This philosophy enabled him to carry out exceptional parts with the various World Fairs from 1855 to 1900. At the XXème century, in spite of the wars and the crises, modernization and creation continue.
TODAY
Today the Faience manufacture of Gien is all at the same time the first earthenware company of quality in France and a powerful company on the national market and international. Its productions, with very strong personality dissociate other ceramics by the richness, the smoothness and the variety of their forms and their decorations. The Earthenware of Gien is appreciated for the richness of its hot colors and its forms.
QUALITY OF EARTHENWARE
Its paste is soft, porous and opaque. It is manufactured partly manually d' an artisanal way, it thus carries quite naturally the distinctive signs from there.
